Tyrim Brash, known simply as Brash, is a self-taught American artist and an enigmatic purveyor of black culture, connecting people and space through vision and ethos. Raised in the resilience of an analog era and shaped by the innovations of the digital age, he bridges two worlds. Inspired primarily by shades of black, he explores presence, perception, and the interplay of light and dark, inviting audiences to experience the world through a distinctly personal yet collective lens.

Years of occupying space and collaborating with production studios, master artisans, and members-only clubs sharpened Brash’s self-taught lens, shaping a singular understanding of craft, community, and culture. His foundation was further strengthened through scholarship opportunities with The Art Students League of New York and the Joan Mitchell Foundation’s Young Artist Program at Parsons School of Design.

Creative Medium: Mixed Media and Cross-Disciplinary Practice

Brash works fluidly across disciplines, approaching mixed media as a means of crossing boundaries. Through his engagement with material, objects become instruments of discovery, allowing ideas to surface in unexpected ways. His practice occupies the crossroads of art, design, and innovation, where form, feeling, and function converge.

At the center of his visual language is a signature halo, formed by hand-drawn black lines that reimagine high art symbolizing collective light steaks refracting ones inner confidence. Moving across spaces and mediums, the mark embodies his underlying ethos: to spread light and love like the sun creating refractions through the power of art. His work does not simply reflect its time, but aims to spread light beyond it.
